Academic Mobility: Islamic Family Law Study Program Faculty of Sharia visit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the University of Malaya Malaysia

The Faculty of Sharia at UIN Malang’s International Class Programme (ICP) is strengthening its ties with universities in neighboring Malaysia. The recent Student Mobility Program reflects this growing academic collaboration. From May 15 to 27, 2023, 22 academics from the Faculty of Sharia, including lecturers, staff, and students, embarked on an academic journey to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the University of Malaya.

This student mobility program not only facilitated academic discussions but also provided participants the opportunity to visit historical sites in Malaysia. The Syariah Court and the Central Library were among the key locations visited by the Faculty of Sharia team.

Dwi Hidayatul Firdaus, Deputy Head of the Sharia Economic Law Study Program at the Faculty of Sharia UIN Maliki Malang, shared her impressions of the program. “Students learned a lot and gained an understanding of the differences in the focus of Sharia studies between Indonesia and Malaysia. Another interesting aspect was the resolution of non-academic issues, such as the importance of English language skills. Abroad, communication in a foreign language is crucial, even from the moment you arrive at the airport, especially concerning immigration matters. Therefore, the ICP classes offer significant benefits to students who participate,” she explained.
